After reading some good advice on these forums about starting a PVP toon and use it to unlock skills before starting a PVE toon of the same class I did just that.

I have never played GW PVP before but while waiting to get in battles there were some complaints of automatic battle joining bots that kept joining battles then did not move from the starting area.

So it seems the botters may have found an easy way to farm faction in PVP.

what would be the profit in farming faction? those characters are probably just people who had a mouse clicker to keep on pressing enter battle so they can get some free faction for themselves.
